Introduction

Mum and Bump is a unique, private obstetric and midwifery partnership in Wimbledon and Surrey UK. We provide support and care to women and families who prefer home birth or hospital birth with independent midwives; we offer private, independent midwifery exclusively, private consultant led care, and shared care between our private consultant obstetrician and the team of independent midwives- all based in Wimbledon and Surrey UK.

Mum and Bump Private Maternity Services in Wimbledon and Surrey UK have highly trained, dedicated professionals who will ensure your peace of mind is maintained throughout your antenatal, labour, home birth or hospital birth, and post-natal experiences.

We provide a first class, private service to meet your individualised needs. This could be a completely consultant led service at a private clinic, home birth, hospital birth, or stand alone service with the independent midwives. Our private consultant obstetrician and independent midwives are available for 24 hour on call telephone consultation, and your home birth or hospital delivery.

Your care pathway will be dependent upon your obstetric and medical history at the beginning of your pregnancy, and is planned carefully according to your needs and wishes. Because of the integrated nature of our private service, should complications arise during your pregnancy, your care pathway can be easily changed as required. Mr. Shehata (our Private Consultant Obstetrician) is responsible for all high risk deliveries and women with complex needs.

For women who have a low risk pregnancy, our recommended care pathway would be exclusive care from the independent midwives and to consider home birth- the safest option for women in this category. Women are seen in their own homes by the independent midwives (in Wimbledon and Surrey Uk) for antenatal care. This care is planned and agreed by women and the independent midwives with reference to the National Institute of Clinical Excellence guideline- "Antenatal Care: routine care for the healthy pregnant woman" (March 2008). Our support of women planning home birth is advocated by Lord Darzi in his highly revered report "High Quality Care For All" (June 2008). And of course, for those women who would prefer a hospital delivery instead of a home birth, the independent midwives can offer advocacy, companionship and birth partnership throughout labour and delivery, continuing postnatal care at home for up to four weeks. Our private Consultant Obstetrician (Mr Shehata) is available for consultation as the need arises and provides excellent support and guidance to our independent midwives in matters of high risk obstetric care.

We also offer comprehensive private antenatal classes for pregnant women in Wimbledon and Surrey Uk. These sessions are facilitated by the independent midwives and cover a broad spectrum of topics. Please refer to the antenatal "Classes" page on our website to discover a suitable antenatal class to meet your needs.
