Kim and Denise are qualified midwives with 24 years experience working in both the hospital and community environments. Our evidence based practice combined with our ongoing labour
ward and community work ensures that we provide care which is holistic, clinically safe and individualised. Between us we have undertaken the “Advanced Life Support in
Obstetrics” course, and the “Examination and Assessment of the Newborn” course, and have used these skills on a regular basis.
Our aim is to provide one-to-one midwifery care in partnership with the woman and her family. Our simple philosophy recognises that pregnancy and birth is a normal life event, and as such we offer supportive, individualised care which enables and empowers women to make the appropriate choices for themselves and their families regarding how and where their babies are born.
Kim Housham BSc (Hons) Midwifery
We offer a service which provides continuity of care from booking to two weeks post delivery or four weeks if this is deemed necessary. We are experienced in active/water
birth, vaginal breech, vaginal birth after caesarean section, and vaginal twin delivery, and can offer birth at home, in hospital, and will soon have access to a newly
established birth centre.
The team at Mum and Bump use specially designed, seperate mother and baby notes for the antenatal, labour and postnatal periods. These are evidence based and have been formulated by leading experts at the Perinatal Institute (U.K.) The notes are regularly updated by the institute, who are also commisioned to coduct research on several aspects of antenatal care.
As well as offering women a wealth of information about their pregnancy, labour and post natal care, the notes are very specifically designed as an assessment tool to plan and enhance care. Individual growth charts are used to predict accurate expected development of each baby, detect any deviations from normal, and therefore plan care which is suitable, individualised and safe.

We have an excellent working partnership with Mr. Shehata (consultant obstetrician), and have established close links with the hospitals in the area.
